Loudoun Library Foundation Logo

The Loudoun Library Foundation Inc. (LLF) is a non-profit organization that provides grants to the public libraries of Loudoun county. The majority of LLF funds are raised through an annual giant used book sale. I am the president of the LLF and I take books that we have been unable to sell and I repurpose them with all profits going back to the LLF.

Repurposed Books

I repurpose Readers Digest Condensed books into letters and various shapes.

  • Pick-up letters for initials or a word

  • Animals include: Cats, Dogs, Pigs, Foxes, and more

  • Shapes include: Christmas Trees, Shamrocks, Hearts, Apples, and more

Literary Coasters

Limited run literary and library based quotes on 4" tiles backed with cork and coated to be water resistant.

Pick a single meaningful quote or a set of 4 complementary coasters.

Hideaway Books

These are real books with the pages hollowed out. They look like real books on a bookshelf or a table. Chose your fiction or non-fiction title that will blend in with your home.

  • Hide valuable on a bookshelf

  • Use as a place to store your reading glasses on your end table

  • A joke wrapping. Put a gift certificate inside a book someone would hate!

Replaceable Front Luminaries

My design for luminaries encompasses a replaceable front so that they can be used over multiple holidays or seasons. An electric battery operated LED votive candle is placed inside. This can provide either a subdued flickering flame-like illumination or if you use a color changing LED you get a colorful explosion. Which you chose may depend on the fronts you select.

Other Creations

These are other more limited items that I make. Some of these are time consuming, but fun for me to make or items from my family that I want to share and keep alive.

Creche Puzzle

This is a pattern that I first saw my father make. He made them for our family back in the 1970s. I have taken on that role and made them for the next generation in my family and I want to share these with you.

Oven Sticks

I first made one of these for my wife about 20 years ago. She, like her mother before her, has scared wrists from touching hot over racks.

Fantasy Land Signs

Arrow signs to point the way to the fantasy land of your choice. Each has a magnet on the back so you get to adjust the angle. Lands include: Oz, Narnia, Earthsea, Whoville Hogwarts, Wakunda, and Rivendell, just to name a few.

Holiday Table Confetti

Small holiday shapes lightly painted that can be tossed on your holiday table as added decorations.

Purchasing

Right now I only sell through shows. If there is something specific you are interested in, drop me a line either on Facebook or email and we can see if we can work something out.
